It's over already???

How is it that we prepare for months on end and it is all over in a few minutes? I hope that your holidays were as great as ours were. We opened presents with the boys early because of Steve having to go to home to Indiana. (His dads surgery went great by the way!!) So here a few pics of the boys opening presents. They got some matching gifts such as a tool box filled with things they could need in case of emergencies, such as fix a flat, road flares, jumper cables, etc and a bucket filled with all sorts of stuff to wash and wax their cars with. They also got wireless keyboards and mouse. Clint and Steve both got a gps. They immediately opened them up and began playing with them. I got the making memories embellishment center. I was ever so happy about it! I took one evening to clean out my scrap space and it looks great! Now I just need to get in there and do something creative!!! I am now ready to put up all the Christmas stuff. I know they say it is bad luck to do it before New Years but hey, last year on Christmas Day we were putting it all up and we had a pretty great year....so I will be pressing my luck again and start putting it all up today. Oh, I was able to hit one store for after Christmas sales this morning before work. Kohls. Went there for Vicky some ribbon, came out with $70 worth of snowman plates and accessories....I swear I am a shopaholic. I need treatment....

This man....

This man is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. He is a grrreeeeaaat guy. Those of you that know me though know that!

He left out this morning to drive to Indiana to be with his parents. Not just for the holiday, but for his Dads triple bypass surgery that is going to happen tomorrow. I know that he has been worried and upset about it and down right scared. His dad is almost 72 so this is a pretty big deal to us all. I hope that you will pray that he makes it to Indiana and back safe and sound and that his dad pulls through wonderfully from the surgery. Until then we have said our Merry Christmas's to each other and I hope that all goes well and he will be back before New Years.

Tis the season

Well, I scaled back this year, way back.... we only have one tree up and that is only thanks to Steve! He got it down, put the lights on, got the ornament boxes out and said here....so we have a tree.

More tree....
More tree...cause you know you just can't get enough.....this is the cats view, well, if we had a cat...
Heres one of my favorite ornaments, it is so light, red and gold and says peace on earth...in case you can't read...

Then there are several bells, song books, trumpets and violins...
Wait, how did they get in there??? Oh well, this is how we tortured the boys before they can open presents they have to do one more family pic.... wait...I think everyone is smiling. I am filing this in the It will never happen again file...

Back to ornaments I have a couple of these gold something or anothers...they just look fancy. I think they have made it about 10 years without the tops or bottoms falling off....

I wrap it up with a heart, because at Christmas time everyone should find it in their hearts to give to those less fortunate.

Holiday baking

Here are some of the wonderful cooks...
Vicky, Pat and Amanda
These were actually mine, Clint and Emilios works of art.

Getting that frosting just right....don't look at the secret frosting that we use!

The cooks helpers Clint, Emilio and Amanda

More works of art. This is a sampler tray: divinity, fudge (unuts and no nuts) oreo balls, banana bread, cookies, and cupcakes.

more baking and cookie decorating

Here is what Barbara's creativity was able to create.

And then there is Vicky's.

I don't think that I will quit my day job and start decorating cookies for a living!

Amanda on the other hand could....

Boy, give us some flour, sugar, an oven and some icing, and you can keep this group busy for a whole day!

(some people take this stuff so serious...)

Who doesn't love drunken looking snowmen and snowwomen to snack on!

Clints creations.

Emilios creations.

Steves creations

Barb tackeled the Santa, I didn't even want to try that one!

Ridin' in style to see the lights

Here is a little excursion that we went on Saturday night to see lights in a nearby town. There were 28 of us I think and this was our ride.... Christmas songs were blaring and crown was flowing....a good time to be had by all ages.

ho hum....

Nothing much on this front. Just work and shopping.... I'm going to dig out some old photos to share since I don't have much to say....I guess this will be sort of a year in review....
Here is probably our only icy day in 07 so far. Ty just to do donuts on the 4 wheeler out in the cul de sac.

Ahhh, the Lone Star Ladies with baggage (kids and an occasional husband) short cruise from Galveston to Cozumel and back. Man, I am going to miss that cruise in 08...great way to get over the Christmas hustle.

Next trip, this is our Spring Break trip 4 wheeling in Oklahoma. What a great trip! There was a little cabin up at the top of the mountain that looked over the lake. You can see it in the background. It was beautiful.

This is April, we had closed on our land and happy as could be. There was a lot of work ahead of us. And many chain saw chains to be purchased.

And the clearing begins.

Nothing much on this front. Just work and shopping.... I'm going to dig out some old photos to share since I don't have much to say....I guess this will be sort of a year in review....

more of the year in review...

here is july 4th and our firework celebration out at the Lux land. A good time was had by all.

Ahh, this was late July for Ty's birthday. He had a couple of friends come down to the land to ride 4 wheelers. Now, they pulled out of the barn on 5 four wheelers and the last thing that mom said was "DO NOT GO GETTING STUCK IN THE MUD" (as they had done the weekend before...) As you can see, not only did all of them get stuck, but so did the helpers that came looking for them.... it was a day for these boys (old and young) to remember for sure!

This is August, our yearly tradition of spending the weekend at the lake the weekend before school starts, our last little bit of freedom until our lives are taken over by deadlines, football games, band practices and the dreaded homework!!!

here is Ty walking into big LC for the first day of his Sophmore year. GO PATS!!!

Balloon festival in I am going to guess September. It isn't Albequerque or however you spell it... but it was ok for around here!

more year in review

Here is Ty working for the cable channel filming the football games every Thursday and Friday night.

Here is progress on the land in October. Steve has really been busy....

Finally, here is possibly the photo that I will use for the Christmas cards. 3 out of 4 smiles is not bad right?

oops, forgot this one, this is July....my big 4-0 bday party. That is pretty much the year in review. Thanks for looking...

I LOVE TO BUY WHEN IT IS ON SALE

Well, Saturday morning we drug our butts out early to go stand in line with about 200 other fools for the annual Fossil Friends and Family day sale. We there an hour and a half early and we thought we were crazy. Not the case. We were like the 46th group there. The first one in line got there at 4:30. By the time we got in there no decent women's watches were to be found. Not many men's watches as well. But let me tell you, there were purses out the wazoo!!! I ended up with 3....knowing that Steve was going to rant when I got home on why the heck I needed to add three more to the stack at the top of my closet...hey, when they are practically giving them away, you can't refuse. I received my first compliment on one of them the very next day! Now, don't you love it, you could spend $200 on one and not one compliment, but get one for $10 and everyone is raving about it....makes me wonder why we even spend money on the expensive stuff to start with! I'll post pics later of my great deals!

Until then, hit the sales...don't pay full price, it is much more fun bragging about saving, then bragging about full price..... :)

BRRRRRR.....

Well, here is the happy little family at the Ice! exhibit this past weekend.... Don't they all look so absolutely thrilled happy to have their picture taken for the 100th time that day? I am always so envious of those families that have all the coordinating outfits and their hair is just right and everyone is smiling big.... well, you don't ever have to worry about that from this family! One year we took pictures in front of the tree and about 30 poses into it I realized Ty's pants were unzipped! I didn't make them redo them... So, since this is the closest I will EVER come to having everyone somewhat dress alike this one might have to do this year.... I'm still doctoring up some of the others so you will only know what I decided on if you get a card! And if you do get one, don't look close, with this bunch, someones eyes will be closed, their zipper unzipped, or they will be snarling at the opportunity for yet another family photo....

Crafty Crap

Ok, I am posting this in hope that the receiver of this gift is NOT going to read my blog until she gets back from our Birthday weekend this weekend. I threw together a gift for a couple of the girls who's birthdays we are celebrating this weekend. They like wine, which was hard as heck for me because I am not a wine drinker at all!!! I go straight for the good stuff, CROWN! Anyway, here is something I put together for their weekend away from their families to be a little more relaxing, wine, a juicy magazine, and chocolate. What more do they need except for sleep? Yall have a great weekend, I know that we will. Check out hippie chicks blog http://hippiehickchick.blogspot.com/ to see the big plans!

Thank god for breathe strips

I have had 2 straight nights of sleep. Now, when I say sleep, I mean 7 straight hours of uninterrupted sleep. I used to wake up in the mornings (ok, not on my own, I have to have Steve call to wake me up...) more tired than when I went to bed the night before. I finally woke up a couple of times one night to his snoring and it was enough. It was time to call in the experts. After some begging from me, some whining from him about how much it hurts when he rips them off the next morning, he finally gave in! I have been sleeping soundly every since. Who would have thought that some little strip across your significant others nose would make you such a happy camper? I have been waking up in the mornings when he leaves and not going back to sleep. I have not had to be drug out of bed or gone to work unshowered because I just wanted to get another 10 mins of non-snoring sleep in. LIFE IS GOOD!
